2017 has been a lot of things, with plenty of aspects we’d really rather not repeat. Gucci’s love affair with the art world however, is something we can’t wait to see more of: enter the house’s SS18 campaign, “Utopian Fantasy”.

The latest in Gucci’s collaboration with Spanish artist and illustrator Ignasi Monreal – responsible elsewhere for partaking in the brand’s hashtag friendly #GucciGift and #GucciGram campaigns respectively, the former which saw his work decorate the #GucciArtWall in Milan’s Largo La Foppa – the new campaign channels Monreal’s aesthetic into depictions of the earth, sea and sky.

Exploring photorealism in his approach, and subsequently a surreal and heightened lens, here the artist marries the brand’s new sartorial line-up into a series of re-workings of famous art works from diverse centuries – pieces from the Dutch Renaissance amongst them – inviting us to reconsider the relationship between the two industry’s. And hit like on Instagram, obvs.
