What does “body image” mean? There’s so many different interpretations of the phrase that it’d likely cause quite the ruckus in your besties Whatsapp group should you choose to explore the topic. Thankfully, Now Gallery in Greenwich has served up the perfect antidote to your body image curiosities.

Devised as the second phase of its Human Stories project, the exhibition, named The Body Issue, seeks to explore body image and anatomy through a selection of different mediums, ranging from film, photography and art, all of which are provided by creatives from around the world. Artists such as Aart Verrips and Joy Gregory have contributed to the project, manifesting in films, abstract imagery and stills of movement that encapsulate their own interpretations of body image.

Alma Haser has explored self-identification and biology of identical twins in her photography, developed here into a jigsaw puzzle. By manipulating the puzzle, spectators can see that despite their shared genetics, they have their own identities. Elsewhere videographer Alex Rueben has explored the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina through dance and music, presented in a film that offers a glimpse into the explored elements of US culture.
