PREMIERE: WILL JOSEPH COOK – “IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY”

The golden boy is back with a banger.

Will Joseph Cook is back with new music and we are (Will Joseph) shook. Having soundtracked our summer with his incredible debut album Sweet Dreamer and wowed crowds all over the UK at his dazzling live shows (our voices still haven’t recovered from screaming “Take Me Dancing” as loud as possible at Heaven in May), Will announced earlier this week that he’s soon to be dropping a new 3 track EP.

Speaking on the upcoming release, the indie-pop sensation says, “The EP is a small selection of what I’ve been writing over the past few months. I’m writing everyday so it felt wrong to wait so long to get a new release out. I think now that so much recording and writing can be done from your bedroom, you don’t need to wait to develop your ideas.”

Releasing the first track today, “If You Want To Make Money” is, unsurprisingly, an absolute banger. “The song’s about wanting to trade your life for one you saw online.” Will explains. “So many young people want, or compare themselves to, an LA Instagram lifestyle. The song develops to realise it’s all a front, and the people we’re aspiring to be are just as unsatisfied as we are.”

Packaged up with the incredible WJC technicolour indie-pop flair that made us fall in love with him in the first place, the track is characteristically upbeat with Will’s distinct vocals gliding beautifully over the bouncy rhythm. Accompanied by a chorus that makes you smile as soon as you hear it and that you’ll instantly want to sing along to, “If You Want To Make Money” is further proof that, as we’ve said before, Will really is the pop star we’ve been dreaming of.

But if you need further proof the song’s fab: “It’s also an anti Fiji water protest song.” Obsessed. Check it out now…
