LFW: SIMONE ROCHA SS18

The Irish designer introduces her delightful dolls.

Hello, Dolly!

Inspired by the Victorian dolls she kept as a child, Simone Rocha’s LFW show was porcelain perfection. The models were pale faced with rosy cheeks, echoing the flawless faces of the toys Rocha played with when she was younger (and has since, so we hear, brought out for her daughter Valentine). Lucky for us, Rocha’s experience with dolls was less like Chucky from Child’s Play and more cute Victoriana.

Monochrome Madness

As the beautiful black and white designs made their way down down the runway, it was clear that you don’t need bright neons to make a lasting impact. Featuring Edwardian-esque layerings and the kind of puffy sleeves that instantly make you think of previous royal dresses, Simone’s collection was a timeless nod to the past, simultaneously feeling fresh with a fierce appeal to the contemporary customer (think Selena Gomez lensed by Petra Collins for “Fetish”).

Flower Fantasy

Colour wasn’t completely left out mind, with various floral designs making stand out runway impressions. In the strikingly cute, innocent style that Rocha creates so well, the flowers added to the baby-doll theme of the collection and were completely #adorbs. We’re obsessed.
