NYFW: MARC JACOBS SS18

Saving the best ’til last…

Print Perfection

Closing New York Fashion Week, it was all about the big, the bold and the beautiful at Marc Jacobs‘ SS18 show. Influenced by fashion archives, Jacobs transformed old trends into modern masterpieces as he passed them through his “exaggerated, decadent, and exotic” filters. With over-the-top prints, neon colours and stunning silk turbans – designed by Stephen Jones – the line-up was in-your-face in all the right ways.

The It Crowd

In a welcome break from the “It crowd” referring to all of those who’ve slightly bricked it watching Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise at the cinema this week, the It Crowd in question at Jacobs’ show were a lot less terrifying and a lot nicer to look at. Returning to the runway, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid kicked the star studded show off closely followed by Gigi’s sis Bella (walking for Jacobs for the first time!) before Kaia Gerber closed the show. Scarily good!

Silent Section

As the 56 looks walked past on the Park Arms Armory floor, the only sound to be heard was the models’ shoes against the wood beneath them. Haunting and mesmerising, the silence gave the striking clothes even more gravitas, proving this show may have been last but it certainly wasn’t least.
