NYFW: COACH 1941 SS18

Stuart Vevers gives us glitz and glamour (heavy on the glitz!).

Glitterati

Like a sophisticated version of our last night at Glastonbury, Coach 1941’s show was covered head to toe in glitter yesterday. Walking on a sea of sparkles, the models strutted down the sparkly life-size replicate of a New York alleyway, many of them adorned in sequins-galore themselves. The front row was also decked out with some dazzling A-Listers, including former Wonderland cover stars Selena Gomez and Charli XCX; James Franco too.

Grafitti Gods

Throughout the collection, Coach’s British creative director Stuart Vevers paid homage to one of the graffiti greats – the incredible Keith Haring. Taking inspiration from Haring’s iconic cartoon characters, they appeared both big and small on several looks creating pop art perfection. However as the saying goes that inspiration can be found all around, so was the case with Vevers: cue nods to musical legends Lou Reed, Kurt Cobain, Patti Smith and The New York Dolls.

Night Cap

For all you night owls out there, this one’s for you. This time, eveningwear was the focus, giving us even more of an excuse to stay out all night. Contrasting delicately beautiful satin slips with biker jackets, the line-up gave retro looks a modern twist with designs calling back to silhouettes from the 70s. No wonder all the cool kids are wearing it…
