NYFW: FENTY × PUMA SS18

Rihanna runs this town.

“Phresh Out The Runway”

Always one to make an entrance, Rihanna wowed attendees at her NYFW show at the Park Avenue Armory with an opening to remember. Featuring three motocross stuntmen, they flipped and twisted round the runway, performing 360-degree daredevil stunts much to the awe of the front row. Well, how else would you expect the self-titled “BadGal” to kick off her fourth fashion show?

“Watch n’ Learn”

With scuba onesies, surfing influences and swimming costumes, the line-up gave a nod to some of our fave beach activities. Influenced by the X Games, RiRi provided us with some major summer goals, and the odds on her making scuba onesies the next go-to beach gear is pretty certain. Talking about the collection, Ri said she wanted it to be “a mix between two worlds: motocross and surf. It was a challenge to bring them together but it ended up being the perfect combination.” Rising to the challenge, the collection excelled in the athleisure style, expanding to tracksuit bottoms and anoraks so cool that you’ll proudly be sporting one next time it starts pissing it down. Shame we couldn’t get a matching umbrella-ella-ella. (Sorry, we had to!)

“This Is What You Came For”

As the first woman ever (yes, EVER!) to win Footwear News’s Shoe of the Year Award, all eyes were aimed downwards as the models approached the runway: and Rihanna did not disappoint. Combining flip-flops and stilettos in a combo that you wouldn’t expect to work but really did, Ri also gave a fresh twist on her bestselling creepers, updating them with stomper boots, and genuinely giving us massive shoe envy. In short, all hail queen Rihanna.
