Self-described as “soul with a sprinkling of pop”, Kara Marni is making her claim as your new fave pop star. Drawn to music at an early age, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter first fell in love after hearing her mum play “Loving You” by Minnie Riperton. After that, Marni began to listen to all the soul singing greats before eventually finding her own voice and beginning to create music.

Now working on her debut EP, which is set to drop early next year, Marni is giving us a taste of what we can expect with her newest banger “Golden”. A hypnotising pop record, the track blends 80s-esque synths with refreshingly modern electronics making it rife with fiercely unique melodies. However, Marni’s vocals are definitely its standout sound. Gliding effortlessly over the beat, her voice is beautifully delicate and utterly absorbing as her lyrics explore the “honeymoon period of a relationship when you can see no wrong in a person.”
