M.I.A. × Astrid Andersens

The former Wonderland cover star teams up with the Danish designer.

She’s no stranger to high fashion collabs having previously teamed up with Versus Versace for a curated collection. But this time around, Wonderland cover babe and politically pumped recording artist M.I.A has teamed up with Danish designer Astrid Andersen to create a range of merch which pays homage to her most recent album, AIM. The collab acts as a precursor for Andersens’ upcoming collection, which will be unveiled imminently at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

With lightweight hats, overcoats and tracksuit bottoms, the collaborative collection features graphic print designs of M.I.A’s iconic patches and labels that she designed in correspondence with the message of her album, AIM. In a similar sense, much of the collection is made up of an orange and black palette, which were the key colours related to the record.

“I chose to work with Astrid because she is an independent women who combines function, sport, simplicity, and futurism,” M.I.A. said of the reasoning behind tapping Andersen for the collaboration. While Andersen herself said “M.I.A’s message is strong and pure and her personality is strong-willed and determined, that’s rare to find and that’s what made her so incredible to work with.”

The collection launches 9th August.
