The Floppy Disk

“What’s that?” asked our office intern when I opened the invite for Blood Brothers SS18 collection, which was the ultimate TBT as it came in the form of a floppy disk. Much office conversation ensued around whether or not you could still put stuff on a floppy disk and whether they would still work in the modern day amidst the ominous “cloud”. It also gave lots of time to speculate upon the inspiration for Blood Brothers upcoming collection.

Escape Reality

A collection which seeks to flee the harsh realities of our current political and economical climate, Blood Brother’s SS18 collection takes us into the not-too-distant-future, showing us the life we can expect to live if we carry on the way we are. The collection futuristic graphics with “PLUG IN TURN IT ON” and “SAVE ME.” Sci-fi inspired boiler suits with panels were a standout, alongside the classic graphic tees.

Inspired by the the likes of Orwellian Big Brother, the set features white noise TV sets and the brand continued to build their digital heritage, paying homage to iconic advertising and vice city vibe graphics and iconography. Accessories also was a big focal point this season for Blood Brother, with cross-body bags being a staple and appearing in a plethora of styles, colours and textures.
