Fashion week, as any Instagram fan knows, is full of fantastic things. Alongside the pretty frocks, trippy sets and cooler than thou kicks, back in February Wonderland was also privy to a special event boasting golden pineapples, star shaped shortbread and SpongeBob SquarePants covered garms. We were charmed, naturally.

Tapping contemporary labels Peter Jensen, Bobby Abley, Bad Denim, Salar, Maria Francesca Pepe and Suecomme Bonnie – think womenswear, menswear, jeans, bags, jewellery and footwear, respectively – the SpongeBob Gold international fashion collection (to give the project its full moniker) transfers Nickelodeon’s hit animated character (and Patrick and Gary too) from Bikini Bottom on the floor of the Pacific Ocean to the sleeve of your new favourite sweater. And we’ve got the exclusive on the IRL release…

“I find SpongeBob’s positive vibe and vibrant energy so addictive,” notes Maria Francesca Pepe of the iconic character. “I’ve always felt the concept of pop defined the core of my creations. Developing an exclusive capsule collection of jewellery featuring the pop sensation SpongeBob felt such a match!”

Likewise the rest of the bunch – Peter Jensen and Bobby Abley have even partnered the square yellow sponge with their in-house mascots, a rabbit and a bear; elsewhere Bad Denim designer Erin Fridja and Bonnie Lee’s Suecomma Bonnie have honed in on SpongeBob’s natural habitat, the pineapple.

Arriving in-store at 192 Piccadilly, London and online via www.wonderlandshop.com on 18th May (Farfetch follows at the end of the month while the designers respective sites will get in on the action come summertime), we’re celebrating the launch with an exclusive party and shopping event – and you and a friend could be there. Just head over to our Facebook and Twitter pages to find out how; winners will also be able to take home their favourite apparel number from the 27-piece collection. Good luck!
