New Noise: Haux

Getting to know the bewitching “songwhisperer”.

Hailing from The Berkshires, Woodson Black, aka Haux, is the stunning “songwhisperer” set to hypnotise the masses. Having quietly slipped into the musicverse with his five track EP “The Bluest Sage”, his magical lyricism and song crafting beautifully sweeps you into another world.

Releasing his newest track, “Touch”, earlier this year, Haux has created a stunning mix, especially for us, full of beautiful tracks that inspire him. Do yourself a favour and hit play whilst scrolling down to find out more about your future fave songwriter.

What’s your first memory of music?

My mom singing Bonnie Raitt on school nights after I was already tucked into bed, supposed to be sleeping..

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

I’m not sure I’d have collaborated with him, but Nick Drake has and will always be an artist I admire. More than anything I’d like to sit down with him and talk.

Who would you say are your main musical influences?

That’s constantly changing, I think. Depends on the week. The one band I’ll forever come back to is Without Gravity.

You released your haunting single “Touch” earlier this year. How did the idea for the song come about?

I remember seeing the first scene of the first verse in my head. It was late one night this past winter. Those few lines gave me the idea of the story and rest of the song.

You’re currently mid-tour. What’s your favourite thing about performing live?

The best part is talking to people after the show. That connection is hard to find when you’re stuck in the studio working on new music. I try to cherish it and keep it with me.

What’s your wildest on stage moment?

I’m still on my 14th show ever so I don’t have much experience to drawn from. If I had to say, I would say using my iPhone to tune my guitar for about the first five shows.

What else have you got lined up for this year?

I’m a photographer first so I’m working on bringing visuals into the project in a unique way, as well as new music.
