Premiere: Subculture Sage – "Drop"

Get your dancing shoes on.

What do London hip-hop duo Subculture Sage and The Avengers have in common? Well, like the superhero team-ups we all know and love, producer Subculture Sounds and lyricist Hypeman Sage decided to combine their powers for the greater good, and Subculture Sage was the result.

Returning for the first time since their debut mixtape, “Big Smoke Autumn Blues”, the pair are back with their newest track “Drop”. With their self described “punk approach to Hip Hop”, the single is an unapologetic vent about the direction the pair see London and the West heading in, with lyrics like “Not the streets you should be scared of / More the CCTV though” hammering their point home.

Mirroring the striking song, the video is a stunning visual sensation. Shot entirely in black and white, the dancer’s reversed dance moves reflect the sentiment of their lyrics with everything not being as it seems, and it is mesmerising to watch.

Getting ready for their headline show at Camden Assembly, the boys are continuing to prove themselves as the hottest duo in hip hop and we are loving it.

Tickets for Subculture Sage’s headline show at Camden Assembly on 10th May are available here.
