AXEL ARIGATO: PLATFORM SNEAKER

The Swedish label drops an elevated new shoe.

There’s a calmness to what Axel Arigato does, you’ll notice it if you scroll through the label’s Instagram page, making a subtle noise about its core footwear collection (here) and the objects and apparel that have since joined the line-up without any need to shout, metaphorically speaking, a strong aesthetic, thought out colour palette and good quality instead occupying the place of the hard sell.

Marrying affordability with a couture like approach to design since its inception in 2014, for SS17 the Swedish label has introduced a bulked up version of its signature Platform Sneakers offering. Less 90s throwback more modern day minimalist Scandi, the shoes are handcrafted in Portugal and made from Italian leather.

An uncomplicated model with a contemporary outlook, the four-part series runs from shades like black and nude to beige and white, available for both sexes with a rubber sole, while the latter detail – somehow simultaneously both sleek and chunky – removes it from the standard paired back sneaker brigade, elevating it to a different footwear game altogether.
