Bahrain born, London based five-piece, SHEIKH, are the psychedelic Middle Eastern indie rock band you’ve been waiting for. With sun-soaked guitar hooks and hip-hop inspired grooves, the boys are creating enchanting and ethereal music that you’ll want to listen to over and over again.
Debut track, “Fonda”, is just that. Mixing dreamy tones with hypnotic vocals, the song is an emotive and honest thought provoking track. As lead singer Mazen Almaskati says, “Beneath its hard hitting exterior and thumping pace, ‘Fonda’ remains a song about escaping harsh realities and unavoidable truths, sometimes blissfully and other times more destructively. It subtly peels back layers of bravado to shed capture the feeling of solitude, one can find only in their own mind. It casts light on the feeling of being surrounded by many and yet somehow all the while still feeling comfortably alone.”
