Grayson and Sam have created something great together. The Nashville-based duo are making genre-spanning music, that can only be described as deconstructionist pop. What is that, you may ask? Well, for BIYO, it’s the masterful blending of pop elements with warped techniques and distorted sounds.
Their newest single, “Focus”, has just received visuals which are the perfect embodiment of the pair’s unique sound. As the heavy percussion and synth sounds rise, the videos glitches and flashes to differing scenes, perfectly mirroring the shifts in the music.
Produced by JaCroix, the following description was made of the video. “The video for ‘Focus’ tries to ask, what occurs to a subject who is reached via an object? What happens when one prioritizes an accessibility that allows for script rehearsal and control rather than an experience that invites unknown emotions and possibilities? Is the joy we seek from others contingent upon our fondness for fine-tuning the circumstances of our encounters, or is a blissful connection with others only possible by saying “yes,” even if we don’t yet know the question?”
It is clear that BIYO’s unique take on music is about to take them to astronomical levels. So sit down and enjoy the ride.
