In a new access all areas series, photographer Joseph McDermott goes behind the scenes with music’s finest. Next up for the Kingswinford native, Phundo Art.

So who are you, and where are you from?

Phundo Art, Jozi, South Africa.

How did you get into creating music?

Listened to it, fell in love with it and wanted to add to it 

And how would you describe your music?

Good listen. Soothing vox! 

If somebody hasn’t listened to Phundo Art, where should they start?

Anything you can find. I took time with each and everything that’s out there and they all reflect a stage in my life. Now I’m here!

You’re about to play a show at the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch. Is this your first time performing in London?

I am, but it’s like my third or fourth time. I’ve got more London shows in near future, come see me 29th March.

You’re currently on ‘The 3 Stacks Tour’ with Molly Mikes. Where have you got the most love so far?

London, the beauty! We got lots of dates left though so let’s top it.

What’s the most essential thing on your rider?

Good vibes.

Who’s the best artist you’ve shared a bill with?

The guy I did the 02 with once… Saul Williams. 

What song can you not get enough of right now?

‘Politik’ by Coldplay 

Who’s your favourite artist or producer to collaborate with?

Ardy
