PFW: CHANEL AW17

Karl Lagerfeld takes us to space for AW17.

Sky’s The Limit

In the typical grandeur one can expect from a Chanel show, this morning Karl Lagerfeld presented an out of this world collection – even launching a branded rocket inside Paris’s Grand Palais. The sky really was the limit for Chanel and this cosmos-themed collection, as Lagerfeld used star-like silvers, midnight-sky black, and the white and cream shades of the moon. Karl’s models showed us winter outfits we can lust over, enlisting names such as Lucky Blue Smith, Gigi Hadid and her sister, Wonderland cover star Bella Hadid to take us to space.

Turn Up The Volume

With a nod to the 60s and cultural icon of the time, British model Twiggy, Karl sent his models down the smoking runway with heightened-hair, bejewelled headbands and Twiggy-style eyeliner. This flashback to the past continued with silver textured tights (perfect for the season’s festivities), tall, toe-capped boots and houndstooth print. Starman David Bowie felt close to home, with astronauts and solar systems adorning the playful prints of the runway.

Wrapping Up For Winter

Prepared for the coldest of winters, the layered-up models wore the ultimate coat collection to inspire desire. Classic Chanel tweeds were woven with berry reds, mixed metallic and wool coats were paired with star-shaped brooches and shiny, quilted blankets had us dreaming of a quick summer. This theatrical show may have been one of Karl’s most adventurous yet.
