LFW: Julien Macdonald AW17

Winnie Harlow sets the catwalk alight for Julien Macdonald’s AW17 collection.

Sizzling in Sequins

Sequins, embroidery and sheer fabrics were all commonplace in Macdonald’s offering for AW17. Ensuring you’re prepped for party season, there was a diverse range of gorgeous dresses fitted with sparkling sequins and fabrics. For men, sweaters with sheer cut-outs and jackets featuring embroidered sequins dominated the runway. The elegant designs came in mostly monochrome colours with the occasional red offering – we’re counting down the days to New Year already!

High Class Correlations

Mirroring the opulent and elegant collection was the space within which it was shown. Held at the London’s dreamy Goldsmiths Hall, genuine candle-lit chandeliers draped from the roof, the walls were lined with medieval oil paintings set against a red and gold backdrop and marble pillars stretched from floor to ceiling. It was the perfect setting to host a handful of celebrities who watched the collection from the front-row, including Dougie Poynter, Ella Eyre, and Toby Huntington-Whitely (to name a few!)

Watching Winnie

Presenting the final look of the show and walking the runway with designer Julien Macdonald was Wonderland cover-star and all-round ultra babe Winnie Harlow. Phones were quickly thrust into the air as the model took her first steps onto the runway wearing a sheer black dress within which she oozed femininity and sensuality. She returned to the catwalk at the end of the show to walk arm in arm with designer Julien Macdonald.
