While you’d be hard pushed to find a Valentine’s Day card repping the stance of a ‘fresh start’ – ultimately not the best premise for 14th February vibes – the latest offering from luxury label Sergio Rossi is consumed with all things new, from product through to moniker and some.

Unveiled online today, for SS17 the Italian brand introduces sr1. The letters, borrowed from the brand’s latter alphabet initials, translate Sergio Rossi’s notion of respect and devotion to the history of the label and its legacy, while the number represents a new beginning; combined, the full title serves as a symbol of true rebirth.

An icon of elegance and femininity, the new collection sees the brand returning to its archive – which stretches back to 1968 – replicating the aesthetics served up way back when. A rejection of fickle trends, the line-up instead reflects the needs and passions of a modern woman’s world; timeless by design, the styles simultaneously boast the contemporary credentials to take wearers from day to night, downtown to dinner with the parents in law.

With an injection of courage and boldness and an accompanying light hearted approach, the new designs range from nautical inspired stripes to black leather and gold metal; elsewhere focus is placed on exaggerated tongues and multi-coloured gemstones, while further variation is apparent in the two standout heel types.
