Wonderland.

PREMIERE: WHITE KITE – "SWANS"

The band’s debut single gets a visual.

Initially joining forces with Tom Dunning in his teens, Louis Shadwick launched White Kite last year; fast forward nine months and today the electronic line-up consists of Shadwick and Dunning alongside Tom’s brother Will, and drummer Andrew Wildgoose (who boasts one of the best surnames perhaps ever to grace the music press).

Following the arrival of debut track “Swans” last month, today Wonderland is happy to premiere the accompanying video: an exploration of the human face with a subtle nod to massive in-store TV screens or Instagram’s iconic squares, depending on your point of reference and date of birth.

“We wanted to have a very simple visual to go with the directness and honesty of the lyrics, so we started by having me singing directly to the camera,” explains Shadwick. “From there the concept developed from the subject of the song, which is all about desire and what that does to people – how it can make you weak and drive you to make bad choices. The way we edited the video, so that it grows more chaotic and slowly introduces the other three of us was meant to feel increasingly schizophrenic, so that you can never really focus on any one screen and the faces become more and more unsettling.”
