7 Wonders: High Fashion Collabs

Check out our round-up of best high fashion collaborations, like, ever.

Fashion collaborations have been around forever, but they have been known to divide opinion. Similar to how musical collaborations sometimes don’t work out, fashion collaborations are equally tricky to master. Designers and brands only have two ways to go about this: either it has to make complete sense or be so unexpected that no one would ever see it coming. With that in mind, take a look at our picks of the best high-fashion collaborations.

Kenzo x H&M

For years H&M has been famous for its fanfare-inciting designer collaborations. Last year was no different, with the Swedish fast fashion label announcing a partnership with Parisian-based Kenzo, run by Creative Directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. The released collection featured zebra-printed, exceptionally bold bright pieces, with some of them being sold on eBay for sky-high prices soon after. Safe to say it was a hit.

Vetements x Every brand EVER

If you needed make the tracksuit cool again, who would you call? Vetements. For its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, the urban luxury brand and industry favourite collaborated with 18 different labels, including Carhartt, Levi’s, Canada Goose, Reebok, COMME des GARÇONS, Champion, Manolo Blahnik, Dr. Martens and, you guessed, even Juicy Couture. Owned by brothers Demna Gvasalia and Guram Gvasalia, the celebrity-loved brand successfully put their own spin on traditional silhouettes and have become the most coveted brand in fashion, whoever they’re collaborating with.

Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik

Rihanna’s personal style is among the most envied out there, so it only seemed right that they’d join forces with footwear giants Manolo and we are so glad they did. The limited-edition collection is luxe denim heaven, comprising of six shoe styles, from the full-leg boots that worked their way up to tie at the waist (we never thought they’d be a thing either) to sequinned embroidered ankle boots. And let’s face it: if there’s anyone that can make hip-high denim boots wearable, it’s RiRi.

Louis Vuitton x Supreme

No list of best fashion collaborations would be complete without Louis Vuitton. Literally fresh of the runway is the brand’s partnership with global phenomenon Supreme, which debuted as part of LV’s Fall/Winter 2017 show in Paris. The result is a collection of dually branded clothes, accessories and shoes printed with a mix of LV monograms and the Supreme box logo. Could this just about be the coolest collab of the century?

Alexander Wang x Adidas Originals

A$AP Rocky x GUESS

Much in need of a revival, GUESS joined forces with stylish music icon A$AP Rocky in order to deliver a brand new collection that’ll refresh your memory of decades passed. Inspired by classic ’90s GUESS designs, the unisex pieces include signature long-sleeved striped basics boasting OG GUESS branding (remixed as GUE$$), denim jackets and overalls. And get this: it’s actually affordable, with prices ranging from £28 and to approximately £185.

Raf Simons x Peter Saville

This one is the mother of all collaborations -think of it as the Beyonce and Jay-Z of this list. Back in 2003, as part of his Fall/Winter Closer collection, Belgian designer and former Christian Dior Creative Director Raf Simons collaborated with graphic designer Peter Saville on a series of parkas featuring images of Saville’s iconic album covers. The New Order Parka is seen amongst Raf Simons fans as potentially the coolest garment he’s ever made, which maybe explains why it’s currently selling for $20,000 USD on Grailed. Now that is what we call a happy marriage.
