Wonderland cover star, undisputed creative genius and general babe, FKA twigs, is up to something special.

Having posted a mysterious teaser video on her Instagram, FKA twigs has confirmed her newest project as Nike Women’s creative director for their Spring 2017 launch. Collaborating with Zonal Tights, the incredible singer and dancer is bringing her edgy artistic aesthetic to the mega sporting brand.

Styled by Matthew Josephs and shot in Mexico City by David Uzochukwu, the collection spotlights modern movement and is modelled by a group of young people selected by FKA twigs herself. Ranging from musicians to athletes, the entire group have individually influenced twigs’s own work in some way. 

Somewhat inspired by those who don’t always see dancers as athletes, twigs soundtracks the video with her own track ‘Trust in Me’, asking us to trust the hard work and athleticism evident in the stunning choreography. And as the group contort into challenging poses, there is no debate about the stunning force of their athletic talent.

The collection defines sport as an important channel of self expression, with twigs viewing the collaboration as “an opportunity to show young people that they have the power to become the best version of themselves”.

“Do you believe that, in six months’ time, you’ll be able to run like that, or jump like that? Do you believe that you’ll be able to train longer? Do you believe that you can get in your best physical shape? Do you believe that you can use your confidence to get that promotion, or finish that creative project?”.
