Little Simz – “Picture Perfect”

Little Simz has gone and released one of the year’s best albums, long-after those slightly navel-gazing “Album of The Year” lists have been published. Stillness in Wonderland, Little Simz’ second full-length album is a stunning collection of tracks that says more about living in 2016 than any other record released this year. Stillness in Wonderland is out now.

Pia Mia – “We Should Be Together”

“We Should Be Together” is Pia Mia’s latest and greatest single. Produced by Harmony, a.k.a. H-Money, it’s a low-key and suitably steamy jam. The track will appear on Pia’s currently untitled debut album which is due to be released in 2017.

Clap! Clap! – “Nguwe” ft. Bongeziwe Mabandla

Clap! Clap!, the Italian producer and songwriter Cristiano Crisci, has given you another taste of his forthcoming album A Thousand Skies in the form of new track “Nguwe”. With guest vocals from South African Bongeziwe Mabandla, the track is a joyful collision of soul, dub and electro. Crisci said: “I’m such a fan of his voice and style but was keen to collaborate on a more experimental song with him, taking us both in a new direction. A Thousand Skies will be released on Black Acre on 17 February.

Julia Bergwell – “Won’t Let You Go”

Sweden’s Julia Bergwell has shared her dreamy new single “Won’t Let You Go”. Bergwell is signed to powerhouse label Roxy Recordings which is home to Eric Saade, CILIA and RABBII. She had to this to say about the track: “For me the track has a sense of freedom, it makes me want to explore the world, but at the same time a think about the people in my life that’s always there for me and fill me with energy and love even when a fall and make wrong decisions on my life journey.”

BAYA – “Loon”

BAYA has dropped new track “Loon” alongside the Jenny Hviding directed visuals. Weaving together disparate influences, BAYA is a uniquely exciting producer. BAYA had this to say about the video: “The idea was to create this post-apocalyptic art space and celebrate independency and breaking free.” “Oslo // Harlem”, BAYA’s debut EP, will be released early next year by Obscenic.

Blood Orange – “Better Than Me”

Blood Orange’s “Better Than Me”, which features the popstar’s popstar Carly Rae Jepsen, has now been given a video. Directed by Blood Orange (Dev Hynes) and choreographed by Juri Onuki, “Better Than Me” appeared on the phenomenally well-received Freetown Sound which was released earlier this year.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – “Fireproof”

Forever forging their own path, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah return in 2017 with a new album. Released on 24 February, The Tourist is the band’s first full-length album since 2014’s Only Run. Conceived in a challenging climate, vocalist and songwriter Alec Ounsworth said: “I’d rather not say that it was a dark time, but it was a difficult time in my life—among the most difficult but I needed and need to try to let it go. And this is how I let things go. Though it’s the same for any album—this one probably more than the others.”

Erik Hassle – “Missing You”

Erik Hassle is tugging at your heartstrings on latest single “Missing You”. Masterfully produced by John Hill, “Missing You” is a lush tale of loss and heartbreak. Erik will release his latest album Innocence Lost in January 2017.

Raye x Stefflon Don – “Timmy Turner”

Raye and Stefflon Don, two of 2016’s hottest talents, have united for a fierce new version of Desiigner’s “Timmy Turner”. Raye has previously collaborated with Nas, Jax Jones and Jonas Blue while Stefflon Don recently released her Real Ting mixtape. These are two artists set to own 2017.

Tiggs Da Author – “Swear Down” ft. Wretch 32 & Avelino

The highly anticipated EP from multi-faceted rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Tiggs Da Author is out now, and as a Christmas treat, he’s just dropped a brand new remix of his last single. Tiggs has crafted an impressive individuality to his sound, which is as influenced by obscure 60s documentaries as African Jazz, Grime MC Dizzee Rascal and classic Motown acts.  Summer 2016 saw him play a number of festivals including British Summer Time,  Lovebox, Standon Calling, Pukkelpop, and Lowlands Festival. His acoustic performance at Glastonbury for BBC 2 even attracted acclaim from Chris Martin, who described Tiggs as “amazing”.

Ariana and the Rose – “Supercool (Acoustic)”

Ariana and the Rose has been a name that we haven’t tired of hearing in 2016. With a couple of incredibly understated single under her belt, she rounds of the year with a stripped-back version of her last single “Supercool”, which is out now.
