Last Summer, FKA twigs took to Manchester to stage a residency at the Manchester International Festival. The project gave spectators the opportunity to witness twigs in the midst of her mind-boggling creative process as she developed a music and dance showpiece that enraptured the audience and set the bar high for enrapturing performance. Chronicling 7 narratives from her personal life, the long-awaited project finally aired last night (Sunday 27 November) on BBC4.
Featuring some of her greatest tracks including “Closer”, “Good to Love” and “How’s That” which were bookended by a haunting reading of “I Find No Peace” by English poet Sir Thomas Wyatt, twigs’ performance was otherwordly. With dreamy and captivating choreography filmed from a diversity of angles for optimum viewing experience, the work further establishes twigs as a master of music, art and dance.
