In case you missed that giant tattoo on her forearm, sk8er girl Natalie Westling is like really, really into Vans. Westling’s gotten creative with her role as brand ambassador and designed a custom Sk8-Hi reissue DX for Vans. This couldn’t come at a better time; now more than ever it really feels like we’re watching the marriage of skate culture and fashion unfold and it couldn’t be more arresting. The off beat model wanted to create ‘a shoe that I could skate in but was also different from all of my other Vans.’ The shoe has stuck loyal to it’s classic 90’s vibes (the best kinda vibes, ya know?) but with some pretty sweet personal twists like the ‘Natalie Skate’ emblem that mirrors the tattoos on Westling’s arm.Vans has long been promoting youth, self-expression and counter-culture sports so Westling, a model who definitely doesn’t get caught up in any stereotypes, feels like a perfect fit for the new shoe. Can we say major?
Wonderland.
