PREMIERE: AVANTE BLACK – “DRUG MONEY”

Sweden’s newest export Avante Black break onto the scene with explosive debut single “Drug Money”.

Not much is known about Avante Black at this stage; just that they are a project led by a stunning 22-year-old Swedish native, Ottilia Zimmerman Kjulsten, alongside bandmates Emil, Gabs and Dean. The first glimpse of their promise came earlier this year when they self-released a demo called “Imaginary Love”, a record that caught the ears of seemingly every music blogger and put forth Ottilia’s striking songwriting power.

Having now signed a deal with [PIAS], also responsible for Anna Of The North and Kllo, Avante Black are back today to make a splash with their debut single “Drug Money”.

Following in the vein of ‘Imaginary Love’s early promise, the single comes as an ambitious statement of intent, an easy flex of their musical prowess. “Drug Money” is an irresistible alt-pop gem, one that explodes with driving melancholy electronics and Ottilia’s compulsive vocal. This is tears-on-the-dancefloor at its finest, and when Ottilia implores “my soul is on fire” with just enough yearning and just enough cool nonchalance, we guarantee you’ll be pressing repeat.
