Pleasure Like a Fairground

Don’t let the fact that we’ve quoted Simply Red put you off reading. Please. Marta Jakubowksi’s SS17 collection was literally an ode to all the ecstatic pleasures of childhood; sound tracked by candy-floss sweet nursery rhymes – including Pippi Långstrump, probably the greatest book character of all time, Harry Potter crew aside – and all taking place on a giant, bubblegum pink carousel. Marta gets us.

Pink Velvet

Sassy girls and long-haired boys frolicked happily on the merry-go-round horses, clad in clinging velvet and sensual satin, in a palette of coral pink, black and a brilliant shocking orange. The looks were super sexy, featuring large slits and lots of draping.

Less is More

The Polish designer consistently stands out for her cool simplicity, nothing is overdone or OTT, just clean, modern, and glamourous in a youthful way. The hand-built set designed by Gary Card was the most extravagant detail, yet felt appropriate, the perfect encapsulation of child-like free spirit.
