Carhartt WIP, clothing retailers with an interest in music and skateboarding, have been unwavering supporters of NTS from their inception – and with good reason. NTS Radio is one of those institutions that make London a music capital. In a city where it can sometimes feel like all people want is money, money, money (see Fabric closure) it’s ridiculously refreshing to find something built on passion. The station slogan is “built by music lovers, for music lovers,” and this isn’t just spiel; the hundreds of DJs who come to play for the Dalston based station do so at no fee, just because they love it.
Last year NTS went on tour with Carhartt WIP – the WIP stands for Work in Progress in case you didn’t know – taking their shows across Europe, playing for live audiences from a custom built booth just like the one at home in the NTS studio. After the roaring success of this tour, it was only natural to join forces again, this time with a capsule collection of tees and long sleeved tops, supported by round two of the tour which begins in October.
The tops, made in 100% cotton single jersey come in four colours; black, white, Flower and Lagoon (that’s pale pink and mint green to me and you) and feature eye-catching motifs all designed by the NTS team themselves. Our fave is the short sleeved “Maximum Reach” tee, with an embroidered slogan and appliquéd picture on the back it’s awesome from every angle. Never one to do things by halves, the team have also created some special videos in honour of the partnership, which you can watch on Instagram or the Carhartt WPS website.
