Premiere: Soul Clap – "Shine (This is it)" ft. Nona Hendryx

Submerge yourself in the infectious funk of Soul Clap.

American production duo Soul Clap (Eli Goldstein and Charles Levine) were making club-ready dance music for a good decade before they released their debut album, EFUNK: The Album, in 2012. That record marked a bit of a departure for the boys, falling more under the umbrella of likeable electro-funk than hardcore house, and it’s down that buoyant, foot-tapping path which Soul Clap have continued to tread. Nearly four years later, they’re getting set to drop their self titled sophomore album and we’re more than a little excited.

You will be too when you hear that most of it was recorded in George Clinton’s What? Studio in Tallahassee. Yep, there are few places more legendary in the world of funk to lay down an album: and with credentials like that (and Soul Clap’s established track record) it’s sure not to disappoint. The good news doesn’t let up there, as the duo are kicking off the release of Soul Clap with a world tour on September 30th starting right here in the UK! To get yourself in the mood, check out this exclusive Wonderland premiere of the album’s lead single, “Shine (This is it)” featuring veteran vocalist None Hendryx. Soul Clap set out to write a song “that felt as modern as it did retro,” which, conveniently enough, describes “Shine” to a T. It’s smooth, danceable, and oozes charm: Funkadelic indeed.
