Trust a brand as unabashedly Italian as Furla – who’ve been making artisnial leather goods for nearly 80 years – to head to somewhere as distinctively sun kissed as Lecce for their AW16 campaign. Having photographed Furla’s previous campaign, the bombastic Mario Testino reprises his role behind the lens to shoot models Ine Neefs and our Summer Issue cover-babe Jordan Barrett. Capturing the youthful insouciance of the two rising-stars, the dynamic campaign depicts Barrett and Neefs exploring the quintessentially Mediterranean streets of Lecce decked out, of course, in Furla’s killer luggage and accessories.
It’s the tweaked Furla classics, indeed, that are the real stars of the campaign (sorry Ine). Trademark pieces like the Metropolis Bolero are re-worked with elaborate laser embroidery and opulent golden rivets – melding tradition with modernity is central to the Furla ethos. The Furla Club, meanwhile, is rendered in super-coveted red ponyskin with thick straps for a sporty feel. Which is to say nothing of the men’s pieces on show; they exude a playful elegance with their eye-catching colourways and timeless shapes.
Oh, then there’s the smattering of shoes, eyewear and jewellery that also feature throughout the image series, exhibiting Furla’s comprehensive range of goodies. So, while you might not have a trip to Lecce on the cards, at least you can face the commute in true Italian style: sadly, we can’t promise you the Jordan Barrett to match though.
