Oh, to be a New Face. To be approx 18, drop dead gorgeous and about to step into the fashion industry with the influence of one the world’s top modelling agencies behind you. For some, it’s the stuff of dreams, and last night, Models 1’s 10 new faces got to peek at the careers that lie ahead of them. Sure, there will be work, and having met them, there’s no doubt there will be lots of it, but let’s focus on the more glamorous side of things, there will be PARTIES.
More seasoned models will know that a party can be masked as anything, received an invitation disguised as: an “exhibition”, a “presentation”, a “reception”? Yep, invite the right people (fun people) and they’re all parties. So imagine our delight when we were invited to Models 1’s very own exhibition, at Shoreditch’s Protein Studios last night. We trotted down to see the next class of bright young things in a series of portraits presented by photographer Jesse Laitinen and artist Rosanna Webster.
Although Amber Le Bon was on the decks and there were cocktails and canapes on hand, provided by Author & Chef, Tess Ward, we found ourselves distracted (we’re as surprised as you) by the moving projection morphing between each of the agency’s newest recruits. Combining artwork, new images and the models’ portraits, the project was to show each personality in each picture. Sure to be strutting down the catwalk next season and being captured in more campaigns than you can count, get to know the best of the next at Models 1.
