BERWICK STREET CALLING WINNER: COLD BOYS

Notorious record store hot spot Berwick Street have announced the winner of their best unsigned acts award.

Of the hundreds of entrants who submitted tracks, Berwick Street Calling winners Cold Boys impressed music veteran judges (including Primal Scream’s Simone Butler and NME’s new music editor Matt Wilkinson) and the public alike with their single You Used To Be Alright.

The South London four piece combine light melodies and soft vocals with intricate guitar rifts, making their vibe perfect for that dreamy summer playlist.

The young band have won the amazing opportunity to record with renowned producer Danton Supple and will have their single pressed onto 1,000 copies of 7” vinyl. Those vinyl will then be stocked in some of the most iconic independent record shops across Soho. Pretty cool right?

As if that wasn’t enough, Cold Boys have also been awarded a slot at the hotly anticipated OnBlackheath Festival held in Greenwich on 10-11 September.

The single will be released in Berwick Street stores this Autumn, but in the meantime, you can check out all 10 of the finalists songs in the Berwick Street Calling Playlist on Soundcloud. The competition was clearly very tough, so congrats to Cold Boys! Listen first, thank us later.
