It’s hard to believe that in this modern age fresh water is still an issue for many people around the world, but thanks to the work of Water For People with Absolut Elyx, the number of people who have access to clean drinking water is growing every day. The amazing partnership between Absolut Elyx and Water For People means that for every bottle of vodka sold, Elyx will provide access to one week of safe water (which is around 140 litres – the World Health Organisation recommends an average of 20 litres per person per day for basic hygiene and food needs) to someone in need.
To celebrate the five-year partnership between Absolut Elyx and Water For People, who work together to bring clean water to over 100,000 people worldwide, they have worked on a brand new artistic collaboration with contemporary artist Phoebe Collings-James. The 3 watercolour ink on paper paintings are full of stark white, vibrant orange and deep electric blue, and are inspired by the countries that Water For People work in, which include India, Uganda, Bolivia and Peru.
Talking about her work with the charity, Phoebe Collings-James said that “the works were influenced by the main focuses of the organization: water, hygiene, sanitation, behaviour change, infrastructure, services, and systems. Water For People is a charity with a focus on a long-term plan for not only infrastructure that allows access to safe water, but putting the services and systems in place to keep water flowing forever. They are committed to improving the lives of women and children globally and I am pleased to be able to contribute in my small way to their big idea.” Available for £500 each on saatchiart.com, you get both awesome artwork, and the knowledge that you’ve helped change lives.
