Dream Downtown

In the city that never sleeps lies the hotel of our dreams, Dream Downtown.

Nestled in between Manhattan’s meatpacking district and Chelsea is the Dream Downtown hotel. With a lobby hailed as “one of the 10 most breath-taking hotel lobbies in New York City” by newyork.com and a silver spaceship-like façade made to impress, the Wonderland team just had to see it for ourselves. Minutes away from iconic sites including the High Line and Chelsea Market, Dream Downtown is the coolest hotel in luxury travel.

Designed by Frank Fusaro of Handel Architects, the lobby is a sight to behold. It’s gritty yet sleek design was inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory, and is full of silvers, greys, purples and teals, with all the glass, leather and chrome accents making us feel like we were being transported into a fantasy land. Industrial metal finishes and an American flag backdrop (that was made out of stacked Mexican beer cans) welcome you into the Dream Downtown lobby, whilst overhead you can see up into The Beach’s glass bottom pool. Full of both cosmopolitan glamour and modern elegance, Dream Downtown goes beyond the traditional hotel hospitality with impeccable service and knock-out architecture and design.

All of the 315 loft-inspired guestrooms have windows shaped like portholes gazing out onto the most amazing views of the Manhattan skyline, and inside they are everything that a contemporary luxury hotel room should be: sleek, elegant and imaginative. Dream Downtown pride themselves on their endless list of amenities provided in their guestrooms, and it’s very clear why – they have everything you could ever need! From fully-stocked private bars, LED TVs to feather beds and goosedown pillows, as well as high-speed WiFi (which is available throughout the hotel), Dream Downtown have your backs.

For dining, Dream Downtown spoils you again and again. The Bodega Negra restaurant serves authentic Mexican cuisine, with a menu including an array of tequilas and cocktails and traditional dishes (we had fajitas cabron and braised oxtails empanadas!), all cooked on wood-burning grills to give you the impression you’re in Mexico City. Melvin’s Juice Box is your destination for breakfast and lunch, and of course, juice, whilst the Beach bar and grill provides delicious drinks and light snacks for while you’re lounging by the pool.

For your night-time entertainment, sneak down to the lower level, where you’ll find the hidden entrance to the Electric Room. Follow the small neon-blue lightning streaks and you’ll end up in a cool Britannia-themed club, where sofas are emblazoned with Union Jack flags and photography and artwork by Sante D’Orazio and Marilyn Minter graces the walls.

The Dream Downtown hotel has it all: the coolest lobby known to man, restaurants that will take you breath away, loft-like rooms and a beach-like pool in the middle of downtown Manhattan. Book yourself in now.
