Nicolas Ghesquiere and the team at Louis Vuitton sure know how to pick ’em for their killer campaigns. Last time it was teen dream and forward-thinking fashion hero Jaden Smith (in womenswear, no less), and today it’s been announced that Selena Gomez is fronting their latest project, Series 5. The former Wonderland cover girl throws some serious looks for the legendary Bruce Webber, who photographed the stunning campaign on his home-turf of Miami.
Unsurprisingly, Ghesquiere is pretty keen on his collaborators, remarking: “In addition to being an incredible photographer, Bruce Weber is also a true choreographer of images. He knows how to capture the energy of each individual, and his images are always dynamic, almost alive. I love the unusual perspective he brings to such a major star. Selena’s popularity is fascinating; she’s an icon for her generation. And yet, there is a disarming sincerity and a true presence about her…” We couldn’t agree more – why d’ya think we put her on the cover of our 10th Anniversary Issue last year?
Well, the woman herself is equally enamored with the project. “I have had the honor of working with Bruce Weber before, so it was great to already have a connection and I consider Nicolas a good friend at this point. We did the shoot in Miami and it was incredibly laid back. The both of them are very passionate and enthusiastic about their work. Wearing Vuitton makes me feel strong and confident. Nicolas knows how to make a woman feel good about herself.” High praise indeed: so check out the images below. You’ll be seeing them everywhere before too long.
