Luxury retailer Dover Street Market has a history of collaborating with fashion brands to produce some of the most coveted capsule collections and limited-edition pieces in the fashion world, and this new collaboration with Gucci will be no exception. Designed by Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, the menswear capsule collection is launching on 12 June and will be marked by an exclusive red Gucci label, not the usual white one, to remind the lucky wearers that they’ve got their hands on one of the most coveted Gucci items of the year. This isn’t the first time Gucci and Dover Street Market have got together; previous Gucci and Dover Street Market collaborations have included a shop-within-shop set-up at Dover Street Market Ginza and the take-over of the Elephant Room, where Gucci created permanent installations on two separate occasions. Gucci and Dover Street Market are the perfect partners.
Featuring four menswear designs, the collection has motifs reflecting the Gucci Garden aesthetic. Think check flannel, flora and fauna imagery and denim. There is a cotton crewneck with an embroidered tree design on the back and lettering gracing the front, red check pyjama trousers, a dark blue and red check flannel shirt with a totally cute rabbit patch on the back as well as a denim jacket with picturesque flower patches, intarsia and studs. They really are treating us!
The capsule collection release coincides with the UK launch of the new Gucci photobook, “Epiphany”, which will also be released on 12 June. Created by cult photographer Ari Marcopoulos, it features behind-the-scenes images of the last Gucci collection and the creation of the campaign. Formed of three sections, with sections one and three consisting of black and white imagery on lightweight paper stock and section two on heavier stock paper and in full colour, the photobook is a must have for any Gucci lover.
