Tiggi Hawke originally sparked our interest with her unusual release strategy that saw remixes of her debut single unveiled before the single itself. Not your typical introduction strategy, but it seems to have worked in the newcomer’s favour pretty much perfectly; the remixes in question were top-tier reworkings from Swedish Nu-disco maestro Tobtok and Wonderland-favourite, high-pedigree pop powerhouse FEMME. Both triggered a ripple of intrigue and appreciation online; with Tobtok’s remix showcasing a sunny-season, euphoric anthem and FEMME’s revealing a dark, moody pop track. Anticipation for the sound of the single itself has been spreading, and Wonderland today has the exclusive unveiling.
Doing things her own way and rewriting the rules, Tiggi is providing exactly what Wonderland want from their popstars in this era of Beyoncés, Rihannas and Taylor Swifts. Hawke has already picked up comparisons to the latter, with her ability to nail a feeling, to crystallise a sense of drama sitting alongside the global mega-star’s. ‘In The Wild’, taken from the newcomer’s debut EP, forms the perfect introduction to Tiggi’s gloriously colourful pop sound. It’s brash, bold, and illustrates Hawke’s faultless songwriting. If all of this sounds a bit too good to be true, it may make a bit more sense once you realise the burgeoning talent is a key component of the creative community based in North London’s Tileyard area – home to Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Chase & Status and relative new popstars Ella Eyre and JONES. With an illustrious team behind her and the remarkable pop goods to back it up, it won’t be long before Tiggi Hawke is on a path lead to global stardom. Check out ‘In The Wild’ below and keep an eye on this one.
