Les Benjamins SS16

See what Les Benjamins ‘Back To The Roots’ collection has to offer.

Switching out streetwear for activewear has been a recent trend, being rocked by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. But the Creative Director of Les Benjamins, Bünyamin Aydin, takes the best bits of athletic wear, with the breathable fabrics and loose fitting style, yet combines it with a contemporary silhouette and simple detailing, to create his new Spring/Summer line. His use of colour, or in some cases, lack of it, gives the line a retro feel. Yet this isn’t the real reason the title “Back to the Roots” is truly fitting for the collection. The biggest influence for this range instead seems to be Bünyamin’s fascination with Istanbul, with him turning back to his Turkish roots. It’s therefore his ideas about the city that are reflected in the clothing.

However, the step into the modern age also can’t be ignored. The use of cell phone cases and digital embroidered technologies makes it a line of the digital age (and a definite one for millennials everywhere). The combination of the traditional with the modern showcases the eclectic feel of the collection, which also sees a mix of Eastern styles with Western. This emphasises the true fundamentals of the Les Benjamins brand, with Bünyamin having previously described the house as mixing “East into West and positively united”. This line is sure to be a success when it joins the rest of the Les Benjamins range at Browns and Harvey Nichols.
