Premiere: Phobophobes – "No Flavour"

We premiere a sneering slice of garage punk from Brixton boys, Phobophobes.

Phobophobes have been enjoying tour life alongside Fat White Family, even performing at the Liverpool Festival of Psychedelia but are still serving up new things by way of the video premiere for “No Flavour.” The band’s debut single with RIP Records “Advertise Your Life” gave the first taste of what Phobophobes’ direction: blasting the commercialisation of everyday of life through their sneering garage punk. “No Flavour” is indeed the perfect follow-up and we’ve been waiting for the gritty hallucinatory visuals. The single itself bashed consumer pop and its absurd instant gratification. “Canned meat, canned laughter,” no flavour, right?

If you thought horror glam was dead, the music and visuals from these Brixton boys will make you think again. The video proves a gloomy, melancholy side to their music anyone who listened to the single before hoped would come. Phobophobes energy is nastily gritty and we love it. The lethal psychedelic brew these south London boys are bringing here will have them on the brink of blowing up.
