LFW: Mimi Wade AW16

Femme fatales in lace and jewels, Mimi Wade’s AW16 girls are screen sirens.

At The Movies

It’s common fashion knowledge that CSM grad Mimi Wade’s print ideas come from old film posters and AW16 was no different. “Please Murder Me” was emblazoned across one dress, not your typical club attire but we all want to wear it on the dance floor. Other prints included sketchy portraits and gunshots through glass.

Doilies and Puffballs

Adding to the vintage air lace slips poked out from beneath Wade’s prints and flared trousers were trimmed in the palest pink lace. Prom queen sheer gloves were given huge fur cuffs along with coat collars. We’re holding out for the blush coloured puffball handbag, complete with a crystal beaded handle, it’d be sure to become our most treasured possession, imagine the horror if you left that on the night bus, it doesn’t bear thinking about.

Femme Fatale

Although Wade’s get-ups are attention grabbing and catwalk-worthy, the shapes she chose make it a wearable collection. Sure, you might not be wearing elbow length gloves out to dinner but her delicate dresses, full length coats, jackets and trousers would all make it out of your wardrobe on regular occasion rather than being saved for best. Mimi Wade AW16 is for the everyday extrovert.
