LFW: JW ANDERSON AW16

Space trip from the 60s, JW Anderson triumphed once again (of course) for AW16.

Inside Out

JW Anderson linked his AW16 show to a quote from interior designer, David Hicks: “The excitement of today is the freedom of the individual to make his own choice and the vast range of possibilities from which he may choose.” So how does this translate to Anderson? His references are always far and wide and expertly subtle, playing on an overarching theme. And well, it’s hard to deny, Anderson fan or not, that he is the excitement of today. The award winning designer always surprises, pleases and somehow stays true to his own style.

Space Odyssey

AW16 looked like how we might imagined the clothes of 2016 in the 60s. Futurespective, we’re calling it. Undulating pink sleeves poured out of a blue tunic with matching flared trousers, both wrapped in pointless but oh so necessary silver zips. A slinky satin white coat was gloriously Star Wars-esque with a studded foot-wide belt. Shoulders were winged in every way, on silky tracksuits and spiked into points over shirts.

In The Details

When it comes to Anderson, the accessories are as covetable as the clothes. Leather strapped sandals and microscopic feather tiled heels sat alongside ruffled handle bags. Studs adorned everything as a common thread from looks to accessories. To die for? Most certainly. We’ll be waiting for the collection to drop and watching our bank balance until then so we can be the first to cradle the emerald and black bag in our arms.
