NYFW: Tibi AW16

Tibi sends boys down the runway for AW16.

Much excitement filled 60 Tenth Avenue between 14th and 15th street when a fuzzy sweater with loose fitting oversized pants worn by a man appeared. Was Tibi debuting menswear? Unfortunately the answer is no, but with this being a menswear inspired collection including some guys on larger versions of the runway looks was a smart move to drive the inspiration home.

For the most part, Amy Smilovic ditched the slim and trim fit and kept things roomier while infusing military details for Fall 2016. There was a fitted off the shoulder button down sweater the stopped well beyond the knee, but that was layered over a pair of dark green trousers that dragged on the floor. Coats with large gold buttons and red trimming touched on the soldiery vibes while oversized suiting in pinstripes and navy corduroy hit the menswear mark flawlessly. Smilovic didn’t leave classic womenswear out, though. For the woman who lives in a dress, mid- length shirt dresses that tied at the waist and silk slip dresses made appearances too. It was no question that fashion fans and industry insiders fell in love with this collection. It was sexy but still very straightforward to wear and at this point, isn’t that something that every woman wants.
