NYFW: Moncler AW16

Ski-wear dreams in plaid and fur, Moncler will keep you warm this winter.

Moncler Grenoble took their show back to NYFW’s old stomping grounds, Lincoln Center Plaza. That particular night the temperature had dropped severely, and most secretly hoped that when they arrived at 10 Lincoln Center Plaza tents would be pitched and PR girls would be handing out seat assignments, that however wasn’t the case. On one of the coldest night during this winter invited guest huddled together like penguins as Moncler opted to show their Fall 2016 outside.

A college marching band fashioned performance took place to kick things off. The spectacle was reminiscent of a halftime show at a historically black college or university homecoming football game. 80 men and women paraded around constantly changing formations without missing a beat. The production continued for approximately 10 minutes before a plaid coat with a fur collar and-and khaki coloured trousers appeared. It’s no secret that the weather permitted the outerwear and cold weather accessories to shine —after all, the Italy-based brand is known for its ski apparel. Elbow length fur gloves, Mr. Snuffaluffagus textured boots and trapper hats out shined most of the actual outfits, but that doesn’t mean that the ready to wear failed to make an impact. Moncler made a smart move by showing both the clothes and accessories in a variety of colours and prints. There was houndstooth skirts and coats, non-PETA-friendly furs came in every colour from black to white to blue to red and standard tops and bottoms ranged from hues from green to grey. The only complaint overheard was servers should have passed out Moncler coats instead of cups of hot chocolate to keep guest warm and toasty.
