“Inimitable chic”

Michael Kors wasn’t just feeding us a line when he described the direction of his 35th Fall-Winter collection as “the inimitable chic of individual style.” After all these years, he doesn’t need themes or gimmicks – his brand lives in its own world – cool and flirty for sophisticated, effortless girls. And along those tried-and-try lines, he delivers.

Blooming through the winter

This was a collection for the Kors girl surviving winter with her mind in spring – nothing austere, in lieu of flowers and sparkle for everyday wear. Even black ensembles had air of lightness, thanks to sequins, studs, and fluttering ostrich feathers. Heavy furs were playfully abloom with colourful flower patterns, while otherwise utilitarian pieces like double-breasted coats were made soft on the eye by tan and baby-blue tones.

Day and night

A few sexy (borderline Versace) looks balanced out boardroom and brunch looks with a bit of party: a silver sequined silk georgette dress with a flapping hemline of gladiator-style fringe; a metallic embroidered dropped mini with a skin-baring grommet cut-outs between the breasts (worn by Kendall Jenner, of course). Signature leather handbags got an update with animal-print details and Modernist chain-link straps. This was Kors doing what he did best, with something easy and chic for every occasion.
