SAINT LAURENT AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS

We all know that Hedi Slimane loves the music world and has spent his career celebrating rock history and mining it for influences and inspiration, nowhere more so than during his lauded directorship of Saint Laurent. Last week’s AW16 show at the Hollywood Palladium in LA was no exception: paying homage to the city’s historic music scene, Slimane sent a healthy dash of glam rock down the runway, with a pussy-bow shirt here, a wide brimmed hat there, and a whole lot of super wearable Chelsea boots that you’re bound to see under oh-so-narrow (and sometimes raw hemmed) trousers everywhere next year.

How fitting then, that the Grammys, indisputably America’s biggest music event, saw its fair share of Saint Laurent-clad artists last night. Most notably, Justin Bieber was celebrating his first ever Grammy win (and, no doubt, his renaissance as a whole) in a stage-ready leopard print bomber jacket from the label. Elsewhere, Tame Impala turned out in that Slimane trademark, rock’n’roll tailoring – complete with dangerously unbuttoned shirts – and Alison Mosshart came correct in a trim varsity and print top. Then there was Charlie Puth in an all black ensemble and Beck looking every bit the Indie legend he is in a slim grey suit and requisite indoor sunglasses. We could go on, but you get the picture: rock’n’roll and Saint Laurent are gonna be together for a while yet.
