FINGER – HETTY DOUGLAS AND PATRICK DAKERS

Get your culture fix at FINGER exhibition tomorrow.

If you’re looking for a raw antidote to London’s frequently over-commercial art scene, look no further than FINGER, the new exhibition opening tomorrow at the 71a Gallery in East London. A joint project between Hetty Douglas and Patrick Dakers, the exhibition is “a quest for meaningful love and true identity in a world that screams fuck me and fuck off.” It’s probably a safe bet to say that’s the best promotional blurb you’ve read in a while.

Douglas is a Peckham based artist (who has graced the pages of this very magazine) interested in subverting and exploring the complexities of relationships and what they mean today. Her works point to the superficiality of relationships and sexuality, but remain deeply personal responses. Patrick Dakers, meanwhile, looks to the Ancient Greek sport of wrestling, pankration, as a jumping point to explore gender and movement. Interested? Then make sure you head over to 71a Gallery tomorrow to see what two of London’s rising talent are up to.
