SOFI TUKKER are the New York based dance-duo whose sound you might recognize from the latest Apple Watch campaign: the track used, “Drinkee”, is probably their strongest output thus far, with it’s bassy, funk-inflected groove and hypnotic vocals. Their currently prepping for their debut EP release early next year which, if their previous work is anything to go by, is bound to distill their various world, jazz and Bosa Nova influences into something uniquely wonderful. Luckily for us, though, the duo did find time to cook up a little playlist for Wonderland. It’s fairly dance heavy (as you might expect), starting with the slow-tempo sense tingler, “High”, before moving into boogie-inducing numbers like “Ceremonial” and even a banger from Brazillian rapper Karol Conka. Stick it on as you await the weekend and make sure SOFI TUKKER stay on your radar come the new year.
URSL023 I Christopher Schwarzwalder & Iannis Ritter – “High”
We were kind of angry we didn’t make this when we first heard it.
Gilligan Moss – “Ceremonial”
This is one of our favourite songs from our homies Gilligan Moss. It’s very hard not to move when their songs are on.
dinnerdate. – “Drinkee Remix”
Dinnerdate. transported “Drinkee” into a lush rainforest. We’ve been listening to it on repeat for a while – it’s really exciting that other people get to experience it now.
SOHN – “Lessons”
We love the way this constantly builds. It’s sonically so hypnotic.
Glass Animals – “Hazey”
The sounds in this are so good and crunchy. Also, all of Glass Animals lyrics are masterful.
Bonga – “Mona Ki Ngi Xica”
Ah the emotion! This is a beautiful song, glad it’s on Soundcloud.
Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons – “Lovers’ Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)”
We DJ this a lot when it feels right to take the room to this level of darkness. Always love to see different sounds in dance music.
CamelPhat – “Constellations”
This song is the most satisfying. It is a journey that doesn’t disappoint when it reaches the climax.
