PREMIERE: THE CAULFIELD BEATS – “ACID PT. I”

We’ve only had to wait eight months… Finally The Caulfield Beats are back with a follow up to their Mexican Smoke EP.

Our favourite “garage-electronics” duo are back with more frenetic glitching and the promise of a debut LP arriving next year. After we spoke to Lawrence Northall and Molly Dixon last year we’ve been refreshing their Soundcloud page longingly in the hope of some new music. Last month, finally, finally saw their return with “Acid pt. I”, sitting comfortably in the same brilliant vein as their previous releases. Brace yourself, there’s a remix coming too, with the duo enlisting Italian producer Antwerp for a rework.

Today we get to share their tripped-out pulsing video dripping with film-negative colours and enough obscure references to keep you searching for the deeper meaning for days. All manner of eclectic stuff flickers on the screen, from what looks like photos of hooded monks to various creepy occult symbols and signs: all in all it’s a pretty sinister counter-piece to a track already seething with a frantic darkness. What better way could there be to kick off your big weekend than with a helping of electro-madness?

The Caulfield Beats “Acid pt. 1″ out on Straight Lines Are Fine, December 18th.
