PREMIERE: KSTEWART – “AIN’T NOBODY (ACOUSTIC)”

We premiere an intimate live-cut of KStewart’s massive track, “Ain’t Nobody”.

KStewart is the 20 year old singer-songwriter from West London who’s been making big waves with her powerhouse-pop over the past year: standout tracks like “Speechless“, “Keeping You Up” and, of course, “Ain’t Nobody“, have been racking up big viewing scores on YouTube and Soundcloud as well as support from tastemakers like Annie Mac and MTV UK. Generally her sound is that ultra listenable mix of her strong Ariana Grande-meets-Mariah-vocals, a touch of dance-inducing house production, and a whole lot of capital-p pop magic.

With KStewart inevitably heading for stardom – a chart conquering track is surely only months away – we are proud to be able to premiere a never-seen-before acoustic version of Kate’s biggest song thus far, “Ain’t Nobody”. The video’s raw black and white footage shows that, unlike many of her pop contemporaries, Kate’s vocal talent is impressive enough that it doesn’t need to hide behind auto-tuned super-production: all she really needs is a piano and a mic to do her thing. Watch this space, and in the mean time, catch our chat with Kate below!

When and how did you get into music?

I’ve been singing ever since I could talk, but I properly got into it when I was about 11. I was always to scared to sing in front of  people so when I was singing in my room I would make sure all the doors in my house where shut so my parents and brother couldn’t hear me! I gradually became more confident  singing in front of people and then I attended a stage school where I was singing all day every day. Then after college where I studied music I met my manager and it all went from there!

How do you go about writing tracks?

I like to start with production, I’m more of a vibes person rather than a sit down at the piano and pour out my feelings type person. So if I catch excitement from the production I’ll just start singing a bunch of melodies and once I’ve got the ones I like in place I’ll think of a concept and start writing the lyrics!

What was your inspiration behind this track?

I really just wanted to make an old school sounding 90’s diva house track. I love 90’s house, and I wanted to put all my inspiration from the diva vocals that I admire so much into a song where I could just let go and sing the high notes!

Who would be your dream person to collab with?

To be honest I had a session a couple of weeks ago in LA with my dream collab, Rodney Jerkins. I have never been so nervous for a session before, he has literally written every single one of my favourite songs. I was sitting next to him thinking “you’ve worked with Whitney Huston and now your working with me”! I couldn’t  believe it. If I was collabing with an artist I would have to re unite Destinys Child and sing with them. The dream!

What does the future have in store for KStewart?

I will never know exactly, but writing and putting out more tunes, an album, a tour, and hopefully world domination!
